Chapter 1: Arrival

The delivery room was a flurry of activity, with medical professionals rushing to ensure the newborn's health. Dr. Thompson held the baby boy aloft, his eyes scanning the child's face for any sign of distress. But there was none. The baby's face was serene, almost tranquil, as if he was already accustomed to the world's chaos.

The mother, still recovering from the anesthesia, reached out a trembling hand. "Is he…okay?" she whispered, her voice laced with concern. The father, standing beside her, held her hand tightly, his eyes fixed on their child.

Dr. Thompson's smile was hesitant, a gentle attempt to reassure. "Let's take a closer look," he said, his voice measured. The nurse carefully placed the baby on the warming table, and the medical team began a series of tests.

The baby didn't flinch when a bright light was shone in his eyes, didn't react to the sound of his mother's voice, didn't respond to the gentle touch of the nurse's hand. Dr. Thompson's expression grew more somber with each passing moment. He knew the signs – the lack of response to stimuli, the stillness of the body. It was as if the baby was disconnected from the world around him.

As the minutes ticked by, the medical team worked to stabilize the baby, monitoring his vital signs and administering necessary care. Dr. Thompson gently examined the baby's eyes, ears, and mouth, searching for any physical signs that might explain his condition.
