He can't shake the feeling that his parents would rather have had a second daughter than him, Jonas, the whirlwind. He constantly draws the ire of his parents, prefers to pull the girls' hair in religion class instead of listening and prefers strolls through the neighborhood to homework. To make matters worse, he is also passionate about rock'n'roll. He feels like the badly dried wood of a guitar – a crooked guitar neck.

A mother who never hugs him, teachers who have no interest in their pupils and the invisible dividing lines of religion in his circle of friends. The whole system stinks to high heaven, Jonas is fed up. He longs so much for a real connection – but will he find what he's looking for in the USA?
