"Red Rock" by Thomas Nelson Page is a Gothic romance novel. The story covers an important era of US history (1865-1877). The plot is set in the Red Rock region where the Grays and Carys lived lies too far from the centers of modern progress to be laid down on any map that will be accessible. It was a good land in those old times—a rolling country, lying at the foot of the blue mountain spurs, with forests and fields; and rich meadows filled with fat cattle.
