Preacher and Prayer

The chapters that follow were intended to be read by preachers – specifically calling for Christian preachers to pray more. It is written by the American author, attorney, and member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South clergy – Edward McKendree Bounds. Bounds' beliefs of the importance of prayers for preachers are best summed up in the following excerpt: «The sermon cannot rise in its life-giving forces above the man. Dead men give out dead sermons, and dead sermons kill. Everything depends on the spiritual character of the preacher.»
