A Bush Bayard: Being A Romance of the Reign of Macquarie

This is an adventurous romance novel set in Australia. The hero of this story comes to Australia with two immigrants. He is the adoptive son of Tom Trevithick. Trevithick and his wife settled near Hawkesbury. As the story unravels, Tom told the hero the truth about his birth. The hero decides to travel to Bathurst from Hawkesbury. There, he plays a starring role in the insurgency of designated servants, who attempted to overthrow the King's Government and establish a republic. The military, on the other hand, crushed the uprising, and the story of this provides the author with numerous opportunities for idyllic episodes and writing. The hero's mother begs Governor Macquarie to intervene and save her son's life, but Macquarie declines, and the young man's fate is decided by a jury. It's a moving account of a pivotal moment in Australian history.
